The Election Commission has warned that IT and private companies in Telangana could face strict action if they do not declare a holiday on November 30, the day of the elections. CEO Vikas Raj has stated that arrangements have been made for a peaceful election. In previous elections, there were complaints that some organizations did not give leave to their employees on polling day. The Labour Department has been instructed to examine whether organizations have followed election norms.
In Hyderabad, a two-day holiday has been declared for all educational institutions during the elections. The district collector has issued an order for this holiday. Telangana has entered a 48-hour silent period and Section 144 has been enforced across the state. Parties should not engage in any campaigning and non-locals should leave the constituencies immediately. Advertising on movies, social media, TV, radio, and cable networks is prohibited. No display of publicity is allowed, except in print media.
Exit polls are prohibited until half an hour after the end of polling. Voter slips should not contain party symbols or candidate names. Voters must carry an identity card to the polling station but mobile phones and other electronic devices are not allowed.
There are 3.26 crore voters in Telangana, with 1,62,98,418 males and 1,63,01,750 females. There are also 2,676 third-gender voters, 15,406 service voters, and 2,944 overseas voters. A total of 2,290 candidates are contesting in 119 constituencies, with 35,356 polling centers set up across Telangana.
For law and order, 65,000 state police officers and 18,000 home guards are participating in election duties along with 375 companies of central forces.
