Around 100 students from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) and various student associations held a protest at the university against the Credit-Based Detention System. The students were unhappy with the elimination of the system for students in the R17, R18, R20, R21, and R22 batches.
The main issue being protested is the credit-based detention policy implemented by JNTUH for the 2022-2023 academic year. Under this policy, students must earn a minimum number of credits to advance to the next academic year. According to one protesting student, for this academic cycle, students need to obtain at least 25 percent of their credits for promotion.

The students are demanding the complete abolition of this system.
