Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu of neglecting the drinking and irrigation needs of the people in Palnadu region during his time in office. YS Jagan laid the foundation stone for a project that will address these needs in Macherla, Palnadu district. The project, called Varikapudisela Lift Irrigation Scheme (LIS), is worth Rs 340.26 crore. YS Jagan criticized Naidu for previously laying the foundation for the same project without proper clearances and land acquisition.
The first phase of the LIS will provide drinking water to 20,000 people and irrigate 24,900 acres of land in several villages. Once the second phase is completed, the project will benefit more than 1 lakh people and irrigate over 1.25 lakh acres. YS Jagan highlighted that despite the nearby Nagarjuna Sagar project, Macherla area has been neglected for a long time. He emphasized that his government has obtained the necessary clearances and acquired land for the project in the past four years.
YS Jagan stated that the project will transform the Macherla area and pump around 1.57 TMC of water for irrigation and drinking purposes daily. He reiterated his commitment to the development of Palnadu district and shared that the YSRCP Government has already invested significant funds in various sectors, including education and healthcare.
Taking a dig at Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, YS Jagan accused them of misleading the people of Andhra Pradesh with false assurances. He criticized their alliance and deceptive manifesto as a way to exploit and rob the citizens of the state. YS Jagan also responded positively to the appeals made by local MLA P Ramakrishna Reddy and agreed to upgrade the current hospital in Macherla and allocate funds for other development works.
Overall, YS Jagan’s visit to Macherla aimed to address the long-standing drinking and irrigation needs of the Palnadu region and highlight the progress made under his government’s initiatives in Palnadu district.
