The Election Commission of India has rejected the nomination papers of 606 candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections. This decision was made after scrutiny by the State Chief Electoral Officer. Among those whose nominations were rejected are BJP legislator Eatala Rajender’s wife Jamuna from Huzurabad and senior Congress leader K Jana Reddy’s nomination from Nagarjunasagar. These candidates did not provide the required information.

The constituency with the highest number of nominations is Gajwel, with 114 candidates filing nominations. This is followed by Medchal with 57 nominations and LB Nagar with 50 nominations.

Parties are now focused on convincing rebels and other party candidates to withdraw their nominations before the deadline on Wednesday. This is to avoid confusion among voters during polling.

A total of 5,716 sets of nominations were received for the 119 constituencies since November 3. The majority of these candidates were independents. Out of these, 2,898 nominations have been validated from all constituencies.

Kamareddy, where BRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao is also contesting, received 58 nominations. Interestingly, about 50 of these nominations were filed by candidates in Kamareddy and Gajwel, where KCR is the nominee. KCR is facing State Congress president A Revanth Reddy in Kamareddy. Reddy has also entered the fray from his home constituency Kodangal, where only 15 candidates are contesting.

Some other constituencies with high nominations include Medchal with 67 candidates, LB Nagar with 57 candidates, and Munugode with 50 candidates. On the other hand, Narayanpet had the least number of nominations with seven, followed by Balkonda with nine.

The BRS is contesting all 119 seats, while the Congress has left one seat to ally with the CPI. The BJP is contesting 111 seats and has left the remaining seats to ally with the Jana Sena Party. The MIM is contesting nine seats and supporting the ruling party in the remaining seats.
