The Congress party in Telangana has reached an agreement with the CPI regarding seat-sharing for the upcoming Assembly elections. PCC chief A Revanth Reddy and other party leaders held meetings with CPI leaders at the CPI State head office. They decided that the CPI will contest from Kothagudem, but will give up Munugode, which they had initially wanted. As compensation, the CPI will be offered two MLC positions after the Congress comes to power.

Revanth Reddy stated that they had discussed seat-sharing as instructed by the AICC and reached a conclusion. The CPI had wanted Munugode as part of the alliance, along with Kothagudem. However, the return of former MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy to the Congress raised concerns about the deal, especially after the CPM distanced itself from the alliance in the state.

The Munugode constituency has been a point of contention between the alliance partners since the Congress released its second list. To address the situation, Congress leaders personally met with CPI leaders at their office on Monday.
