The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has decided to conduct a caste census after November 20, 2023. This decision was announced by Minister Chelluboyina Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna at a press conference.
The State Government will seek suggestions from community leaders who have demanded a caste census. District collectors will be involved in the process to gather opinions from community leaders in their respective areas.
To gather comprehensive details about the struggles and needs of different communities, round table discussions will be conducted in five locations. These discussions will focus on the need for a caste-based census.
During the Cabinet meeting, several important issues were discussed. This included the establishment of industries with an investment of Rs 19,000 crore through the State Investment Promotion Board. Skill development centers will also be set up in 6,790 high schools across the State. Additionally, 100 acres of land will be allotted for the National Law University in Kurnool.

Other approved proposals include distribution of house plots to journalists, waiver of stamp duty and registration fees for Polavaram residents, and allocation of land for a solar power plant in Nandyal and Kadapa districts.
