The BJP Khammam Parliament Convener, Namburi Ramlingeswara Rao, demanded compensation of Rs 30,000 for the farmers in Sathupalli who suffered losses this season. Rao, along with other party leaders, visited the Sathupalli constituency to inspect the paddy fields. They found that the fields had been damaged due to the lack of water facilities. Rao expressed dissatisfaction with the district administration for not providing water to the fields for 45 days, which resulted in significant crop damage. The BJP had previously appealed to the district administration, but received no response.
Rao stated that if the government had supplied water through the NSP canal for at least 20 days on time, around 60 thousand acres of land could have been saved out of the total 80 thousand acres. He accused the NSP officer of releasing water into the canal late, possibly for election campaigning, after the crops had already been damaged. Rao also blamed BRS MLA Sandra Veeraiah for the crop damage and announced that around 100 farmers are planning to file nominations against him in the upcoming elections.
During the visit, Mandal president Burra Narasimha Rao, Mandal SC Morcha president Mahesh Bhanu, and others also participated actively.
