In Hyderabad, the city police have enforced Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in a 100-meter radius around the offices of the returning officers. This is due to the filing of nominations for the upcoming elections in the 15 constituencies in Hyderabad district. The ban will be in effect from 10 am to 6 pm between November 3 and 15. Police Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya issued the ban orders.
The date of poll notification is November 3, and candidates have until November 10 to file their nominations. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 15.
There are 15 nomination-filing centers for each constituency in different locations across the city. These include various tahsil offices, GHMC deputy commissioner’s offices, GHMC zonal commissioner’s offices, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board.
To maintain law and order, peace, and tranquility, and to prevent any incidents of breach of peace, it is prohibited for five or more persons to assemble within a radius of 100 meters at the returning officer offices across the city. This is done to ensure a smooth nomination-filing process and prevent any disturbances.
Overall, this measure aims to facilitate a peaceful and organized nomination process for the upcoming elections in Hyderabad district.
