Former Congress leader Ponnala Lakshmaiah, who recently joined the BRS, stated that the Congress has always insulted BC leaders. This is the reason why three BC leaders, who were PCC chiefs, left the party. Lakshmaiah emphasized that this disrespect towards BC leaders is not limited to the State, but is also seen at the national level.
During an informal interaction with the media, Lakshmaiah provided examples of three BC leaders who were also PCC presidents. He questioned why he was being portrayed as a fool for leaving the party when other BC leaders like D Srinivas and K Keshava Rao had also made the same decision. He believes that leaders will go wherever they are respected.
Lakshmaiah highlighted that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had already implemented the ideas that political leaders are currently discussing. He mentioned that KCR conducted a comprehensive survey called ‘Samagra Kutumba Survey’ within three months of taking office. This survey helped in understanding the castes and livelihoods of the people across the State, leading to the development of tailored schemes for the poor.
Lakshmaiah urged the people not to forget what the CM has done for them and pointed out that KCR’s achievements were similar to what AP CM Jagan is currently talking about. He believes that this is the reason why KCR became the CM and why the Congress’s dream of coming to power is unrealistic.
In conclusion, Lakshmaiah stated that even during YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s regime, the Congress could not secure 50% of the seats. Therefore, he believes that it is unlikely for the Congress to come to power.
