Hyderabad: On Saturday, state BJP president G Kishan Reddy informed 55 Telangana BJP candidates that they have been given tickets for the upcoming elections.

The BJP is feeling confident after the C-Voter survey predicted an increase in their seats from 1 in 2018 to 8 in 2023 (they later won two more seats in bypolls). They have now finalized their first list of 55 names.

Interestingly, the names of party national vice-president D K Aruna, Vijayashanthi, Komati Reddy Rajagopala Reddy, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, and state president G Kishan Reddy are not on the list.

The party has also not yet announced the names for Amberpet, Musheerabad, and Gadwal. Sources suggest that the party may announce a BC candidate as the Chief Minister if they come into power in Telangana. There are speculations that Bandi Sanjay, who is set to contest from Karimnagar constituency, might be the BC CM face for the BJP. Even after being removed from the post of state president, Kishan Reddy and Bandi have been prominently seen on stage during meetings addressed by top leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
