Residents of Malakpet in Hyderabad are disappointed with the lack of development and basic facilities in their area. Despite promises of infrastructure projects, such as sewage and drinking water networks, the area continues to face issues like bad roads and traffic problems. Slums in particular are lacking in these basic amenities.

Certain parts of Malakpet have seen significant development in recent years, but areas like Azampura, Old Malakpet, Akberbagh, and Chawni have been left behind. The residents are demanding an explanation from the MLA for the delay in executing major projects.

During the rainy season, low-lying areas in Malakpet suffer from heavy water-logging. The promise to make these areas flood-free remains unfulfilled, as there has been no modernization of pipelines or cleaning and widening of drains. Residents live in constant fear during the rains with no specific plan to divert flood water out of their area.

Infrastructure projects like elevated roads, road widening, and development of interior roads have also faced delays in Malakpet. Areas like Azampura, Chanchalguda, Old Malakpet, and Chawni require upgrades to their sewage and water systems, as well as nala fencing and road construction.

Despite the presence of good colleges, restaurants, and educational institutions, the locality of Malakpet lacks proper civic amenities. Residents have been let down by the lack of efforts from public representatives and the administration.

Traffic flow projects, including road widening, have also been stagnant. Malakpet is known for its high traffic volume and has a bridge near the railway station. However, projects like the construction of an additional vent for a road underbridge and the widening of a road have been progressing slowly.

Another project, an elevated corridor between Malakpet and Santoshnagar costing Rs 523 crore, has been ongoing for three and a half years instead of the promised two years.
