The first list of Telangana Congress candidates for the Assembly elections will be announced on Sunday. The TPCC decided to announce the names of about 62 candidates after the meeting of the election committee at K C Venugopal’s residence.
The Central Election committee of the AICC will meet again on Tuesday to finalize the names for the remaining candidates. Loyalty and winning chances were the main criteria for selecting the candidates. The party considered reports from ground level leaders and survey reports before making the final decision. All the members of the screening committee agreed on the selected names.
Ponguleti Srinivasulu Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao are new entrants in the party and their names have been finalized for the upcoming elections. Tummala had previously met Rahul Gandhi and KC Venugopal and expressed willingness to contest from any constituency chosen by the party. The issue of alliance and seat adjustment with CPI and CPM was also discussed and a final decision will be made on Sunday.
