In Wanaparthy, District Collector Tejas Nanda Lal Pawar held a meeting with bankers to enforce the Model Code of Conduct. The Collector instructed the bankers to be vigilant when opening bank accounts for political leaders and candidates during the election period. They were advised to regularly monitor the account profits and report any transactions exceeding 10 lakhs to the Income Tax Department.
Special attention was also given to cash transporting vehicles of all banks. The Collector emphasized the importance of thorough verification before allowing movement of these vehicles and ensuring that only authorized personnel are present. Officials were instructed to wear ID cards and carry relevant documents at all times.
To prevent illegal cash possession, Flying Squad Teams (FST) will be patrolling the district and confiscating any cash suspected to be over Rs 50,000 without proper evidence.
The Collector highlighted the need to monitor transactions of small amounts in order to identify any suspicious activity. Businessmen and wine shops in the district were specifically mentioned as they often deposit large sums of money.
Furthermore, the bankers were instructed to provide daily transaction information to the district collector’s office, particularly regarding suspicious accounts. This information should be submitted in the evening.
