The suspense for ticket aspirants in Telangana Congress will continue until the end of October. The party’s central election committee is scheduled to meet on October 23. The screening committee met on Sunday and will meet again after a week. During their meeting, they filtered the candidates based on survey reports and prepared a list.
Before the list is announced, the TPCC will have a bus yatra on October 19 with Priyanka Gandhi participating, and Rahul Gandhi joining on October 21. Several senior leaders’ names have been finalized for the list, including Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Damodar Raja Narasimha, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, Prem Sagar Rao, Shabbir Ali, Sitakka, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Tummala Nageshwar Rao, and Mynampally Hanumantha Rao.
Some students from Osmania University had met with the party leadership to demand tickets, and on Sunday they protested outside the AICC. The party leadership assured them that their demands would be examined. Representatives of the Kamma community also met with the party leadership to demand their due share.
The party is planning to announce 119 candidates at once, but they will first call those who were not selected to Delhi and convince them before announcing the list to avoid dissent and desertions from the party.
Meanwhile, the Congress Working Committee will be meeting on Monday. Leaders from the two Telugu states will be participating in the meeting to discuss the political situation in the five poll-bound states and issues such as the need for a caste survey, unemployment, price rise, and poll pacts with other parties.
