The 75th Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) meeting was held in Hyderabad. The meeting took place at the Railway Officer’s Club in Secunderabad. There were 31 ZRUCC members present, including members nominated by the State government, elected members from DRUCC of six divisions, Consumer Protection Organisation, Principal Chamber of Commerce and Trade Associations, and Registered Passengers Association. The meeting also had the nominees of the Minister of Railways under the special interest category.
Arun Kumar Jain, the general manager of South Central Railway (SCR), mentioned that SCR has been performing exceptionally well in various areas. This has solidified its position as one of the top-performing zones in Indian Railways. Jain also shared that SCR has been continuously improving its rail services based on the demands of passengers. As a result, SCR achieved its highest-ever Gross Originating revenue of Rs 9,570 crore in the first half of the current fiscal year. During this period, SCR successfully transported 135 million originating passengers and 66.75 million tonnes of originating freight.
Jain informed the ZRUCC members that 106 stations over SCR are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These stations will have world-class amenities and are being developed with a long-term perspective. He assured the ZRUCC members that their suggestions and discussions will be taken into consideration when formulating new plans and proposals to improve passenger amenities and services.
