The Deputy Labour Commissioner (Central) has decided to hold the trade union elections at Singareni Collieries Company Limited on October 28. This decision was made despite the absence of 15 out of 17 coal unions and management representatives at a meeting called by the Deputy Labour Commissioner.
Most of the unions and the corporate management have been pushing for the trade union elections to be held after the State Legislative Assembly elections. However, there have been ongoing discussions about issues related to the election process, such as the use of ballot paper or electronic voting machines.
In order to comply with the court’s directive to hold the election by October 30, the Deputy Labour Commissioner (Central) has chosen to proceed with the poll. However, Raji Reddy from the Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham has stated that the management will challenge this decision in the High Court on behalf of the company’s employees.
