The Ganesh laddu auction craze is spreading to different places, surpassing the famous Balapur laddu. At the auction in Keerthi Richmond Villa, a whopping Rs 1.26 crore was fetched. The Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi started the trend of laddu auctions, which has now spread to various pandals in the city and districts.
Residents of Richmond Villa collectively participated in the auction and collected Rs 63 lakh, which is used to help the underprivileged and pay for school fees of the poor. The money is given to 24 NGOs. In another auction by New Star Bhakt Samaj, the laddu was sold for Rs 10.11 lakh to G Bhupal Reddy. This year, it fetched Rs 2 lakhs more than last year’s auction.
In Shankarpally Municipality, a Muslim government teacher named Taher Ali successfully bid for the laddu, promoting brotherhood and unity among people of all religions. He believes that the laddu will bring good fortune. In Nalgonda, a person associated with MLA K Bhupal Reddy purchased the laddu for Rs 36 lakh at a pandal organizer’s auction.
