    Artillery Centre Hyderabad celebrated its 197th Gunners Day on Thursday. The day commemorates the establishment of the first Indian Artillery unit, 5 (Bombay) Mountain Battery, on September 28, 1827.

    To honor this occasion, the Centre brought together current and retired Artillery personnel to pay tribute to tradition, unity, and valor. The day began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial to honor the brave gunners who sacrificed their lives for the country. The Commandant, veterans, and Agniveers all participated in the ceremony. Afterwards, there was an opportunity for interaction between the serving and retired gunners and Agniveers. The evening featured a captivating light and sound show that showcased the rich history and achievements of the artillery.

    The Regiment of Artillery has a proud history filled with traditions and remarkable accomplishments. They have always played a crucial role in defending the nation, especially in counter-terrorism operations. The Regiment has served with distinction in both war and peace, including missions abroad and during times of disaster. They are known for their professionalism, dedication, and devotion to duty. The Indian Artillery is continuously modernizing its equipment and adopting advanced technologies to better fulfill its motto, “Sarvatra Izzat-O-lqbal – Everywhere with Honor and Glory.”

    The event was attended by Major General Rakesh Manocha, who expressed pride in the dedication, valor, and commitment of the artillery personnel towards the defense of the nation.
