Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress party for its opposition to the Women’s Reservation Bill. He accused them of not being able to accept the bill, which was introduced as the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act’ in the Lok Sabha on September 19.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh responded by saying that this measure was only meant to make headlines and that its implementation could take several years. Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah took to Twitter to express his satisfaction with the introduction of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act in Parliament. He emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to women’s empowerment.

Shah also criticized the Congress party for its lack of seriousness about women’s reservations. He accused them of allowing laws to expire or preventing the introduction of bills. He stated that no matter what tricks they use to gain recognition, their true intentions will always be revealed.

Earlier on September 19, Jairam Ramesh tweeted about the Women’s Reservation Bill, calling it a betrayal of the dreams of Indian women and girls. He also mentioned the Modi government’s failure to conduct the scheduled census in 2021, making India the only G20 country to not have a census.

Ramesh questioned when the census would take place and when reservations for women would be implemented. He expressed doubts about whether the census and delimitation process would be completed before the 2024 elections. He concluded by stating that the bill was just a way to gain attention now, with execution being delayed.
