Khammam: The District Collector of Kothagudem, Dr Priyanka Ala, has urged parents of children with disabilities to send them to school because education helps in their personal development.
Recently, a program was organized by the education department and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO), a Central PSU, where the Collector distributed assistive devices to students with disabilities. Dr Ala highlighted that people with impairments can still achieve success in life if given the right opportunities and guidance. She expressed her gratitude to ALIMCO for providing these tools.
In the district, 1,700 students with disabilities have been identified, and a committee has selected 445 of them to receive the equipment in a transparent manner. The remaining eligible students will also receive the aids in the future. Additionally, the Collector made an unexpected visit to an anganwadi center in Old Kothagudem later in the day. She expressed her disappointment at finding the center locked and voiced her dissatisfaction with CDPO Lenina.
