    The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) standing committee, led by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, focused on development projects and approved 10 proposals during its meeting on Wednesday.

    One of the approved proposals is the construction of an animal shelter and cattle hospital in Serilingampally mandal. The Ranky Foundation will undertake the construction on about an acre of land with their own funds. The committee has also approved the agreement to establish the hospital within six months from the date of agreement in the year 2023-24.

    The committee has also approved the construction of a box drain and VDCC road in Hafiz Baba Nagar and Chandrayanagutta. Another approved project is the widening of an 18 feet road over a closed river via a water treatment plan, which includes land acquisition of 21 properties.

    In addition, the committee has approved the construction of a multi-purpose function hall in Kailash Nagar at an estimated cost of Rs 3.3 lakh. The development and conservation of Maisamma Kunta in Manikonda will be undertaken by Divya Sri Tech Park Private Limited through CSR activities.

    During the meeting, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi also highlighted the issue of dumping construction waste in unauthorized places and urged corporators to create awareness among the public. She also emphasized the distribution of eco-friendly Ganesh idols made of clay.

    GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose announced that two temporary points have been set up in each zone for dumping construction and demolition waste. He also mentioned that 4 lakh clay idols will be distributed, with GHMC distributing 3.10 lakh idols and the Pollution Control Board distributing 90,000 idols. Distribution will begin from September 15, with over 3,000 idols being distributed in each ward from the ward office.
