    Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron met during the G-20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi. They discussed the progress in their bilateral relations since their last meeting in Paris in July 2023. They also talked about important international and regional developments.

    President Macron’s visit to India followed Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Paris in July 2023, where he was the Guest of Honour for the French National Day. This visit marked the 25th anniversary of the India-France strategic partnership.

    Both leaders acknowledged the strong partnership between India and France. They emphasized the need to expand their collaboration to address regional and global challenges. They are committed to serving as a force of good and promoting a stable multi-polar world.

    The leaders discussed the implementation of new goals for cooperation in areas such as defense, space, nuclear energy, digital infrastructure, critical technology, climate change, education, and people-to-people contacts. They also talked about their partnership in the Indo-Pacific region and Africa, including infrastructure, connectivity, energy, sustainability, and industrial projects.

    President Macron congratulated Prime Minister Modi on India’s success with Mission Chandrayaan 3. They reviewed the progress in their space cooperation and civil nuclear ties. France expressed support for India’s membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group.

    Both leaders committed to strengthening defense cooperation and expanding production in India. They called for the early finalization of the Defense Industrial Roadmap. They also emphasized cooperation in digital, science, technology, education, culture, health, and environment.

    Prime Minister Modi thanked President Macron for France’s support during India’s presidency of G-20. They also welcomed the African Union’s membership in the G-20 and expressed their commitment to working with AU for the progress and development of Africa.
