In other news, Gandhi was sentenced to two years in prison in a criminal defamation case. This led to his disqualification as a Member of Parliament. However, the highest court suspended his conviction and reinstated his Lok Sabha membership. A lawyer from Lucknow has filed a petition to challenge the reinstatement, arguing that it was inappropriate to reinstate Gandhi’s membership after his prison sentence.
