Telangana State Planning Board Vice Chairman B Vinod Kumar expressed his objection to the formation of a committee on One Nation One Election (ONOE) by the Centre. He pointed out that the committee only consisted of members from North India and there was no representation from the South. Kumar criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for causing chaos with special Parliament sessions and blamed the NDA government for not addressing the issue in the past 10 years.

Kumar mentioned that the ruling BRS party had given its opinion on ONOE in 2018, stating that they supported the concept but emphasized the need for discussion. He questioned whether the report on ONOE had already been prepared and suspected that the committee was just for show.

He expressed frustration with Modi’s direction for the country, particularly regarding the lack of attention to increasing the number of members in the legislative assemblies of Telugu states as mandated by the AP bifurcation Act. Kumar also questioned why five constitutional amendments were necessary for ONOE instead of addressing the issue in the Reorganisation Act.

Additionally, Kumar criticized the Modi government for its inaction on the Women’s Reservation Bill over the past decade and expressed concern about the potential chaos that could arise from implementing ONOE. He assured that the issue of ONOE will be discussed within the BRS party.
