Telangana Congress spokesperson Krishna Teja announced that the party will soon release the “Old City Declaration” with the goal of developing the historic Old City. The party is hoping to win seats in the AIMIM stronghold in the upcoming assembly elections. Many individuals have already applied to contest from various constituencies in the Old City.

The Congress has previously released declarations focused on youth, farmers, and SC/ST issues. The Old City Declaration will also prioritize the development of the area. The Hyderabad District Congress Committee has begun the process of preparing the declaration.

Teja stated that the elections in the Old City will be more competitive as the Congress has become a strong political force. He also alleged collusion between MIM and BJP during previous polls. The Old City Declaration will address issues such as illiteracy, unemployment, lack of development, civic amenities, public health, high crime rates, housing for the poor, police harassment, Metro Rail for the Old City, and illegal financiers.
