    Phase-II expansion in TS to receive Rs 800 crore investment from Mars Inc.

    Global pet food major Mars Inc has announced that it will invest Rs 800 crore to expand its operations in Telangana. Currently, Mars Petcare has a plant in Siddipet district with a capital investment of Rs 200 crore. They produce popular pet food brands like Pedigree and Whiskers. With this new investment, Mars Inc’s total investment in the state will increase from Rs 200 crore to Rs 1,500 crore. The expansion plan was agreed upon in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on December 17, 2021, between Mars Petcare and the government of Telangana. The MoU includes an additional investment of Rs 500 crore for the manufacturing plant.

    A delegation from Telangana, led by Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, met with Sekhar Krishnamoorthy, Chief Data and Analytics Officer for Pet Nutrition at Mars Inc in New York. Mars Inc expressed interest in expanding their plant in Siddipet due to the rapid growth of the pet food market in India. The Telangana government and Mars Inc agreed to form a partnership to improve pet care and nutrition in the country. They also discussed the possibility of creating a comprehensive base for Mars Inc in areas like research and development, digital transformation, agri supply chains, innovation, and sustainability.

    This investment by Mars Inc is expected to boost the pet food industry in Telangana and create more job opportunities in the state. The expansion of their manufacturing plant will also contribute to the overall growth of the pet food market in India.
