Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently concluded his diplomatic visit to two nations. After returning from Greece, he is now heading to Bengaluru, Karnataka as part of his pre-arranged schedule. During this visit, he will meet with the ISRO team of scientists who are actively involved in the Chandrayaan-3 Mission.
The Chandrayaan-3 lander, named ‘Vikram’, successfully landed on the uncharted lunar South Pole after a 40-day journey through space. This achievement has made India the first country to accomplish such a feat.
Prime Minister Modi also participated in the live online broadcast of the Chandrayaan-3 landing event from South Africa. He praised the mission for its gentle landing on the lunar surface, stating that “India is now on the moon.” He expressed his pride in witnessing these historic moments, which mark the beginning of a new era for India.
India has become the fourth nation, alongside the United States, Russia, and China, to successfully achieve a lunar landing. The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft executed a controlled descent of the Vikram lander onto the lunar surface.
The journey began on July 14 with the spacecraft’s launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota. Using the GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle, the spacecraft entered lunar orbit on August 5. It then went through a series of planned orbital maneuvers before landing precisely on the moon’s surface.
