Authorities in Haryana’s Nuh have denied permission for the VHP’s Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra, which was scheduled for August 28. This decision comes after communal violence occurred in July. The Nuh district administration has rejected the yatra organizers’ application for permission.
The ‘mahapanchayat’ held on August 13 by Hindu groups in Pondri village decided to restart the VHP yatra from Nalhar temple in Nuh. However, Nuh’s Superintendent of Police, Narender Bijarnia, confirmed that the application for procession permission has been denied.
When contacted, VHP leader Devender Singh claimed to be unaware of the permission denial and stated that no permission is needed for the yatra. The plan was for the yatra to start from Nalhar temple, passing through Jhir and Shingar temples in Firozpur Jhirka’s district, as decided during the ‘Sarva Jatiye Mahapanchayat’ on August 13.
The VHP procession was attacked by mobs on July 31, leading to communal clashes in Nuh and resulting in six deaths, including two home guards and a cleric. Gurugram also experienced sporadic incidents of violence.
