A high-ranking officer in the Women and Child Development division of the Delhi government is being accused of child abuse, specifically the rape of a 14-year-old girl who is the daughter of a friend. The Delhi Police have filed a report against the officer, invoking sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act, which deals with child abuse cases. The officer’s wife is also implicated for allegedly assisting in the abuse.
The victim is a 12th grade student who lost her father in 2020. The accused officer took her into his home and allegedly sexually assaulted her multiple times from 2020 to 2021. When the girl became pregnant, the officer’s wife reportedly instructed their son to get medication and the pregnancy was terminated at home, according to the girl’s account to the police.
The girl is currently receiving medical treatment and has not yet given her formal statement to a magistrate. The Delhi Police are continuing their investigation into the serious allegations against the government official.
