Disruptions occurred in both Houses of Parliament on Thursday morning, leading to adjournments. The Lok Sabha was adjourned until 12 noon due to protests from the Opposition, while the Rajya Sabha was adjourned until 2 p.m. after a heated exchange between the ruling party and the Opposition regarding discussions on Manipur.

After reconvening, the debate on the no-confidence motion initiated by the Congress resumed in the Lok Sabha, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman leading the discussion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to respond to the debate at 4 p.m. The voting process will then take place, and the government is expected to have a majority.

In Wednesday’s session, Rahul Gandhi criticized the Centre for their actions in Manipur. Union Minister Smriti Irani countered his argument by stating that he does not represent India. The Lok Sabha also passed a resolution for peace in Manipur after Home Minister Amit Shah’s appeal. In the Rajya Sabha, multiple bills were passed in the absence of the Opposition.

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal presented the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and terms of office) Bill, 2023. MP Dr. John Brittas expressed opposition to the Bill, but it was still introduced despite objections from the Opposition.
