A total of 263 senior medical officers have been approved for promotion to Chief Medical Officers. The promotion of the 139 doctors was initially supposed to happen in 2020-21. However, due to the Covid outbreak and the subsequent lockdown, government work was disrupted and slowed down. But as soon as the situation stabilized, Saxena swiftly processed their promotion, considering their dedication and service during the pandemic.
