Two groups of Congress supporters clashed with each other in front of TPCC President A Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad on Saturday. Revanth Reddy was visiting flood-hit areas in the city when the incident happened.
The clash occurred between local Congress leaders who were divided into two groups. However, Revanth Reddy intervened in time and prevented the clash from escalating. The fight started when supporters of Congress leader Mandumula Parameshwar Reddy tore down a poster erected by another Congress leader Ragidi Lakshma Reddy at Asian multiplex in Uppal before Revanth Reddy’s visit.
During his visit, Revanth Reddy demanded that the government provide Rs 20 lakh ex gratia to the families of the victims who died during heavy rains. He accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao of ignoring alerts issued by the IMD, which resulted in many colonies being flooded and people losing their belongings.
Revanth Reddy toured Uppal and LB Nagar constituencies, which fall under the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha segment that he represents. He criticized KCR for prioritizing politics instead of addressing the flood threat. He also mocked KTR for his lack of knowledge and accused him of celebrating his birthday while people were struggling in the floods.
Revanth Reddy stated that the situation in Hyderabad has become a disaster, with 90% of the Nizam era water bodies being encroached upon by the BRS leaders. The flooding in colonies was a result of this encroachment.
