Karimnagar district has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past two days, causing flooding in many areas. This has led to traffic disruptions between villages and mandal centres due to overflowing streams, tanks, and the Godavari river. Colonies in places like Huzurabad, Jammikunta, Peddapelli, Ramagundam, and Vemulawada have been flooded, with water entering people’s houses. The Urthubhavan Colony in Huzurabad has been particularly affected.
The villagers of Jagtial and Peddapelli districts have been alerted about the heavy flood coming from Kadem in Godavari. Projects in the Karimnagar district are overflowing, and significant amounts of water are being released downstream. Yellampalli project in Ramagundam mandal has lifted 32 gates to release floodwater downstream, while Parvati Barrage attached to Kaleswaram has raised 54 out of 74 gates to release water. The Lower Manair Dam in Karimnagar is also receiving floodwater.
Narmala (Upper Manair) project in Gambhiraupeta mandal of Rajanna Sirisilla district is experiencing significant inflow and outflow of floodwater. Ten workers in Gopalpur sand quarry were trapped, and rescue efforts are underway. Production of coal in Singareni Ramagundam region has been halted, and people in Autonagar and New Poratapalli areas have been evacuated.
Several areas have been affected by flooding, including Housing Board Colony in Jammikunta town, Vemulawada town losing connection with Satarajupalli and Mallaram villages, and Galipalli and Narsakkapeta villages in Jawaripet experiencing water entering houses. The primary health centre and police station of Konaraopet mandal have also been caught in floodwater.
