The Basaveswara jayanthi is now being celebrated officially in Siddipet, according to Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao. He accused the previous Congress and TDP governments of neglecting Basaveswara. Harish Rao praised Basaveswara for fighting against sexual discrimination in the 12th century and teaching people the importance of hard work.
He mentioned that Basaveswara formed a Parliament to establish a system of people’s rule. Basaveswara went to Basavakalyan in Karnataka to learn about administration and how to fulfill aspirations. Harish Rao also mentioned that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao immediately agreed to celebrate Basaveswara jayanthi officially after being informed about it.
Harish Rao commended KCR for installing a Basaveswara statue on the Tank Bund and allocating one acre of land worth Rs.20 crore to the Veerashaiva community. He also mentioned that funds were provided for Basava marriage halls in Narayankhed and Zaheerabad, as well as for the construction of a bhavan in Sangareddy district. Harish Rao further added that a statue of Basaveswara will be installed on the Zaheerabad-Mumbai highway at a cost of Rs.1 crore.
He praised KCR for his dedication to helping the poor regardless of their caste or religion. Harish Rao concluded by saying that with the support of the people, Siddipet is being developed in all sectors.
