The State government in Hyderabad is planning to introduce a common mobility card that can be used for various modes of transportation. The card will be usable on the Metro rail, TSRTC buses, MMTS trains, as well as cabs and autos. Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao has instructed officials to launch the card by the second week of August.
The government is working towards implementing a common mobility card for public transport in Hyderabad. The Hyderabad Metro Rail and Telangana RTC organizations have already begun operations. Currently, the card can be used on the Metro Rail and RTC buses without any issues.
During a meeting at the Secretariat, officials from RTC and Metro Rail provided details about the card to the ministers. They discussed the process of issuing the card and its usage in different areas.
Initially, the card will be issued for travel on the Metro Rail and RTC buses. In the future, it will be expanded to include MMTS, cab services, and autos. The ministers emphasized the need for a One Card for All Needs model, allowing citizens to use the same card for future purchases.
The ministers instructed officials to issue this card on an experimental basis in Hyderabad and eventually expand it to other parts of Telangana. Citizens with this card will also have the opportunity to use the National Common Mobility Card across the country.
The ministers have ordered that this card be made available to citizens by the second week of August on a trial basis. Metro Rail and RTC officials are coordinating efforts for its implementation. The MAUD Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar has asked citizens to suggest names for the card.
