The State government in Hyderabad is planning to introduce a common mobility card that can be used for various modes of transportation. This includes the Metro rail, TSRTC buses, MMTS trains, cabs, and autos. Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao has instructed officials to launch the card by the second week of August.
The government aims to create a single card that can be used for all public transport in Hyderabad. The Hyderabad Metro Rail and Telangana RTC organizations have already begun operations. Initially, the card will be usable on the Metro Rail and RTC buses without any issues.
During a meeting at the Secretariat, officials from RTC and Metro Rail provided more information about the card. They discussed the process of issuing the card and its usage in different areas. The card will first be available for travel on the Metro Rail and RTC buses, but there are plans to expand its usage to include MMTS, cab services, and autos.
The Ministers emphasized the importance of having a single card that can be used for various purposes in the future. They directed the authorities to adopt a “One Card for All Needs” model. This will allow citizens to use the same card for other purchases as well.
Initially, the card will be issued on an experimental basis in Hyderabad city. The government intends to expand its services across Telangana in the future. Citizens with this card will also have the opportunity to use the National Common Mobility Card in other metro cities across the country.
The Ministers have instructed officials to make the card available to citizens by the second week of August. The Metro Rail and RTC officials are coordinating efforts to achieve this goal. Suggestions for names for the card have been requested from citizens by the MAUD Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar.
