Thousands of tourists are still stuck in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rains. Although efforts to evacuate them and reopen roads are underway, around 850 roads remain blocked. Many tourists have extended their stays in their current accommodations, hoping for the situation to improve. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has described the task of evacuating stranded tourists from Chandertal in Lahaul and Spiti as challenging. However, there is good news that some tourists from Telangana will be returning home on Thursday.

Officials from Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi have identified and airlifted these tourists to Chandigarh. They were then transported to Delhi by road. These tourists had been stranded in the Kullu-Manali-Kasol belt since July 6, but they were able to be airlifted once the rain stopped. Officials have stated that things are slowly coming under control. Around 100 people from Telangana were identified with the help of local authorities in Himachal Pradesh. These authorities have taken care of their needs, including food, accommodation, and medicine.

Due to the large number of people, it is not possible to airlift everyone, so the stranded tourists have been asked to wait until the road network is restored. The IT Minister K T Rama Rao tweeted about the state government’s concern and the arrangements being made. A control room has been set up in Telangana Bhavan to assist the stranded tourists, as many parents have made distress calls.
