The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached properties belonging to former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and his associates. The ED revealed that assets worth over Rs 52 crore have been seized from Sisodia, his wife, and other individuals involved in the Delhi Excise Policy case.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal responded to this news by stating that only Sisodia’s properties have been attached and not seized, contrary to what was reported by the ED. These properties were acquired before 2018, when there was no excise duty policy in place. Furthermore, the assets have been properly declared in income tax and election affidavits. Kejriwal believes that these actions are solely aimed at defaming the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Atishi, a leader of the AAP, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the central government of spreading misinformation and attempting to defame Sisodia. Atishi’s statement came a day after the ED crackdown on Sisodia. According to ED documents, Sisodia owns assets worth Rs 81 lakh, not Rs 52 crore as claimed by the BJP. Atishi emphasized that her party is not afraid of the BJP or its agencies.
Atishi further defended Sisodia’s reputation by highlighting his contributions in providing quality education to children in Delhi. She demanded an apology from the BJP to Sisodia and his family. Atishi presented the documents to support her claims, stating that Sisodia’s assets include Rs 11.50 lakh in his bank account, a flat purchased in 2005 for Rs five lakh, and another flat bought in 2018 for Rs 65 lakh.
Overall, the ED has attached properties worth over Rs 52 crore related to Sisodia and his associates, but the actual value of Sisodia’s assets is Rs 81 lakh. The AAP remains steadfast in its belief that these actions are politically motivated to defame their party.
