Customs Air Intelligence officers at the RGI Airport Shamshabad in Hyderabad seized heroin worth Rs 14.2 crore from a female passenger from Burundi. The passenger arrived from Nairobi on an Air Arabia Airways flight. The officers recovered over 2,027g of heroin from the passenger.

The officers identified and intercepted the passenger, who is 43 years old, based on passenger profiling and observation. Upon examining her baggage, they found traditional African dresses, a ladies’ handbag, and soaps. The baggage felt heavier than usual, so they carefully opened the side layers of the dresses, handbag, and soaps. They discovered black/clear plastic pouches hidden in each layer.
