Podu farming, also known as shifting cultivation, is a traditional practice followed by tribal communities. It involves clearing a patch of land for cultivation, using it for a few years, and then moving on to another patch. This method allows the soil to regenerate naturally. However, in recent years, conflicts have arisen between tribal communities and government authorities regarding land rights and the conservation of forest resources.

Chief Minister KCR has been implementing various schemes to address the issues faced by farmers in Telangana. These include Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bheema, and Rythu Vedika, which aim to provide financial assistance, insurance coverage, and a platform for farmers to discuss their problems. The distribution of land titles for podu lands is seen as a step towards resolving the land rights issues faced by tribal farmers.
