The Congress party criticized National Security Advisor Ajit Doval for saying that if Subhas Chandra Bose was alive, India wouldn’t have been divided. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh called him a “distorian” in a tweet. He said that Netaji challenged Gandhi, was a leftist, and staunchly secular. Ramesh added that by 1940, Netaji had formed the Forward Bloc, so it’s unclear if partition would have been avoided.
Ramesh also pointed out that Syama Prasad Mukherjee, not Netaji, was responsible for the partition of Bengal. He recommended a book by Rudrangshu Mukherjee for Doval to learn more about the history.
