Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the G20 agriculture ministers meeting on Friday. He talked about the importance of global food security and how it’s affected by climate change. Agriculture provides jobs for over 60% of people in the Global South and contributes over 30% of GDP. The pandemic and geopolitical tensions have made it even harder for agriculture to meet the world’s needs. Climate change causes extreme weather events that hurt the Global South the most.

The Prime Minister shared India’s agricultural strategy, which combines natural farming with technology. He also talked about millets, which are nutritious and help farmers use less water, fertilizer, and pesticides. In 2023, millets will be recognized as the International Year of Millets.
