A group of cyclists in Hyderabad recently took a ride to the Telangana State Archaeology Museum, also known as the Hyderabad Museum. The event was organized by the Happy Hyderabad and Hyderabad Cycling Revolution groups, and brought cyclists from all over the city to the museum in the Public Garden near Nampally Station.
The cyclists were given a tour of the museum by young historian Mohammed Haseeb Ahmed. He showed them some of the most popular exhibits, including an Egyptian mummy of Princess Naishu. The mummy was brought to Hyderabad in 1930 by Nasir Nawaz Jung, son-in-law of Asaf Jah VI, and is one of only six Egyptian mummies in India. It was reportedly bought for 1000 pounds.
Mr. Ahmed also pointed out a large gallery on Buddha dating back to the last century, as well as a wide variety of archaeological artifacts from the Nizam and Kakatiya dynasty. The cyclists were excited to learn about the rich history of their city and enjoyed their ride into the past.
