The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has made some changes as the Lok Sabha elections in India approach. Sharad Pawar, the president of the NCP, has named Praful Patel and Supriya Sule as the new working presidents. The announcement was made during a function in Delhi to celebrate the party’s Silver Jubilee year. The reshuffle came 35 days after Pawar had resigned but then decided to stay on as party supremo.
Pawar has shaken up the party’s top levels, starting with the General Secretaries. When asked why his nephew Ajit Pawar had not been given additional responsibilities, Sharad Pawar said that Ajit already had an important role as Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Ajit Pawar congratulated all the new appointees and wished them success in their efforts to strengthen the party.
