The Telangana government has made changes to bring public administration closer to the people. They created new administrative units and redistributed departments. Before October 2016, there were 10 districts in Telangana with an average population of over 35 lakhs, making administration difficult. It was hard for officials and people to travel long distances to reach district headquarters and offices. The State government created 23 new districts, increasing the number of districts from 10 to 33, with smaller administrative units for more efficient governance. The new districts were launched on October 11, 2016, and increased the number of revenue divisions, mandals, and gram panchayats. All government departments are now in one place in the newly formed districts, making it possible for people to reach district headquarters within an hour.
