On World Environment Day, a group of cyclists gathered at Ameenpur lake in Hyderabad to clean up the lake bed. The cyclists, who promote alternate modes of transportation, came from areas like Miyapur, Madhapur, Gachibowli, and Lingampally. Some cyclists even traveled more than 50 kilometers to participate in the clean-up.
Ameenpur Lake is a popular spot for birdwatchers and photographers in Hyderabad as it is home to flamingos, egrets, herons, cormorants, kingfishers, and river terns. Unfortunately, garbage has been dumped all around the lake, which has affected its eco-system.
The clean-up was organized by Happy Hyderabad Cycling, Hyderabad Cycling Revolution, and NGO – Earth Needs You (ENY). The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment and encouraging people to take action to keep it clean.
By coming together to clean up the lake bed, these cyclists showed that small actions can make a big difference in protecting our planet.
