The Telangana government wants to prevent damage caused by heavy rain during the monsoon season. They are making a plan to help urban local bodies (ULBs) across the State. Each ULB official has specific tasks and deadlines to follow, starting from June 01. They need to create emergency squads to help with rehabilitation work and put diesel generators in useful locations. They also need to make sure that water doesn’t flood certain areas and prevent mosquito breeding.
To prevent mosquito breeding, officials have to do regular checks and treatments on certain objects every Friday. These objects include tanks, drums, and any containers that may collect stagnant water. They also need to educate the public on how to maintain hygiene and not dispose of waste in drains. Fogging activities should be done in the evening within the ULB, especially during the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons when mosquito breeding is at its peak.
The sanitation wings have to ensure that garbage collection is done door-to-door and waste is treated properly. They also need to clear debris and bushes from the roadside, manage biomedical waste without mixing it with other municipal waste, and disinfect public places. These places include bus stands, markets, school premises, hospital premises, cart stands, and ration shops using a 1 percent sodium hypochlorite or phenolic disinfectant.
