The Telangana government has finished buying paddy for the season, including crops damaged by unexpected rains. They procured a record 50-lakh metric tonnes of paddy, which is 12-lakh more than last season. The government promised to compensate farmers Rs 10,000 per acre for any damaged crops. The government spent Rs 10,200-crore on paddy and will deposit the money into the accounts of about 8 lakh farmers soon. There are 7,000 paddy purchase centres across the state, and the government warned rice millers that they would face consequences if they rejected paddy. The government finished procurement quickly to prepare for the Decennial Formation Day celebrations. All officials, including Collectors and district authorities, will be busy with the event.
