King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia is visiting India to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. The President of India will host a state banquet in honor of the King. During his visit, the King will meet with President Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishanker.
The King will also pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat. This visit by the King marks the first time in six decades that a Cambodian monarch has visited India. The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that the visit will help strengthen the relationship between India and Cambodia.
Trade between India and Cambodia is growing, with a value of USD 366 million for FY 2022-23. Indian investments in Cambodia are estimated at around USD 115 million, with a focus on pharmaceuticals, automobiles, and mining. India has also extended a grant of USD 1.5 million for demining equipment and offered a line of credit worth USD 50 million for the procurement of defense equipment from India.
Customized training courses have been carried out for Cambodian Army personnel in India and Mobile training teams from the Indian Army have been deployed to Cambodia for training Cambodian Army personnel.
