The Mayor of Hyderabad, Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, has directed the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) agency to improve the performance of streetlights in Greater Hyderabad. During a meeting attended by the Commissioner, DS Lokesh Kumar, ENC, and ESL officials, the Mayor expressed concerns raised by citizens and corporators about the LED street lights’ performance and slow problem-solving. Corporators have reported problems and deficiencies throughout GHMC, with complaints raised by members during standing committee and council meetings.

The Commissioner emphasized that bills should be paid every month and that funds should only be used for GHMC related services. The problem has been ongoing for eight months, but the EESL is yet to solve it.

To address the issue, immediate stock preparation for repairs should be arranged in the warehouse, and two ladders must be provided for each circle. An order for 3000 bulbs has also been placed for installation within two weeks, followed by another 3000 bulbs. Additionally, it was noted that the agreement’s requirement of maintaining a 5% buffer stock has not been fulfilled.
